Our June Trips and Visits

Dobrý den,

June started with a visit from my brother and his girlfriend. They stayed the weekend and brought some gifts for childrens day with them. They arrived on Saturday and we went out on a small tour to explore the city. We ended the day with traditional Czech food in a restaurant that was mostly filled with other people from germany. Sunday started with breakfast in a small cafe that Laila (the previous volunteer) recommended to me. I managed to order our food and drinks in czech which i was proud of. With full stomachs, we then walked to the pilsner urquell brewery for our guided tour. My brother and his girlfriend really enjoyed it since they are both big beer fans. After a late lunch at 4 pm at my favorite restaurant Ganesh, they were on their way back to germany.

The next weekend my parents took me and Livia on a little getaway to the german city Passau. It was our first time there but we had an amazing time. We walked through the city to the mouth of the river (estuary). Passau is the only place in Europe where three different rivers flow together. The rivers in question are Donau, Inn and Ilz. On Sunday we went to a glass museum in Frauenau. It was very interesting and we saw a lot of stunning art pieces. While driving back to Plzeň, we listened to the Germany vs. France game on the radio and were quite disappointed with the results. In the evening after arriving, Livia and I also watched the Spain vs. Portugal game.

All of our weekends this month had been fully booked, so one week later saw us at the train station again, but this time on the way to Mariánské Lázně. We had made plans with friends that are currently volunteering in Prague. Our journey there was a bit adventurous as we had to change to a railway replacement bus midway.  Saturday and Sunday were spent in saunas, pools and the forest.

I was on my way home next friday to attend the graduation ceremony of a friend. The ceremony was on Saturday and very beautiful. Sunday was then spent relaxing at home and picking cherries from our garden. There were still a lot of cherries left on the tree although we filled up three baskets.

A friend that I met at the on arrival training and that is currently volunteering in Prague visited on the last weekend of the month. I showed her my favorite places in Plzeň.

And now the month is already over and there is only one whole month and a few days left. Oh how the time flies.

Na shledanou,

Juli
